OCPA at the Seminar for Representatives of the African Coalitions for Cultural Diversity

December 2012

Organized by the International Federation of Coalitions for Cultural Diversity, with support from the International Organization of the Francophony and held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on 13-15 December 2011, this first meeting of representatives of the African continent coalitions for cultural diversity was aimed to strengthen the capacity of coalition members to take actions that contribute to the implementation of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and promotion of the Diversity of cultural expressions.

OCPA was represented at the meeting by Hamadou Mandé, member of the Technical Committee and focal point of the Observatory for Burkina Faso.

OCPA at the Creative Arts World Summit

December 2012

The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM), in association with the US-based Aspen Institute, organised a three-day creative arts world summit, held in Muscat, Oman, on 28-30 December 2011, and entitled Arts in Motion. Participants from over 30 countries, including nearly 80 Omanis took part in the summit, and discussed a range of topics on performing arts and global dialogue from Monday to Wednesday. Artists, academics, policy-makers, producers, designers, and other leaders in the sphere of arts, culture, and civic dialogue engaged in conversations on various topics. Topics included the effect of globalism on indigenous cultures, art and technology, storytelling, the development of cultural markets, and professional development for artists and arts practitioners.

OCPA was represented at the Summit by the OCPA Executive Director, Lupwishi Mbuyamba.
